John has spent his entire career to date at Barclays Capital. John joined BZW (predecessor to Barclays Capital) on the Analysts programme in 1997, working within the Investment Banking/M&A division. After the split of BZW, John stayed on with Barclays Capital and spent 6 years within the Energy & Utilities sector team of the Investment Banking Division. During these years, John mainly focused on origination and execution of advisory, acquisition financing, project financing mandates in the EMEA region as well as cross selling the full range of Barclays Capital products to the same client base. He led some landmark transactions such as the largest European power acquisition financing in Italy, the first Independent Power Plant financing in Ireland, the longest tenor Middle Eastern power & water project financing etc. As part of the transition from IBD to the Markets Division, John re-trained for derivative sales role for products such as Interest Rate, FX and Inflation. Over 4 years ago, John moved to the Commodities Division and currently leads teams and is responsible for commodities sales to Pan-European Utilities client base as well as all Iberian (Spain and Portugal) corporate clients. John holds a Masters in Engineering from University of Oxford.
